ETMA Metal Parts is among the biggest Portuguese exporting companies according to Dun&Bradstreet study.

THE STUDY

In a partnership with Santander Totta bank, D&B prepared the base study for «Exporters in Portugal 2009-20015». Through the analysis of the individual exports, all companies that export over 500.000 euros per year or with more than 20% of their turnover, were filtered and considered.

The purpose was to highlight companies that, in different sectors and of different sizes, distinguished themselves as exporters in the Portuguese market.

THE RESULTS

The current national and international contexts are favorable to the export growth and Portuguese companies are showing signs of seizing the moment. Between 2009 and 2015, exporting companies grew from 40 thousand to 52 thousand, now representing 11% of the Portuguese economy and 40% of GDP.

In this year’s event, 1946 companies were filtered accordingly. ETMA was one of the highlighted companies and considered one of the best Portuguese exporting companies.

ETMA’S EXPORTS

ETMA works on a daily basis to increase its competitiveness, both national and (specially) abroad. Currently, 64% of its annual turnover is for the international market, with clients in four continents: EUROPE, ASIA, AFRICA and AMERICA.

In industrial subcontracting industry, ETMA’s key factor is having the 10 Integrated Production Processes, which allows to deliver a more complete product, minimizing the need for further subcontracts before reaching the clients’ production line. Along with this key factor, ETMA’s investment policy on high technology and its machine park updates carried out last year allow it to achieve competitiveness and to be able to successfully compete in foreign markets. In fact, this success has pushed the need for a local presence abroad: for a closer presence to its Central Europe clients, ETMA has founded a logistic subdivision in Bekov, Czech Republic.

ECONOMIC CONTEXT AND THE FUTURE OF EXPORTS

The forecast for the international economy is growth, once that it’s considered to be in a recovery stage of the economic cycle. According to the opinion of known economists’ opinion, Portugal is on a privileged position to take advantage of the EU growth and consolidate its exports. ETMA is watching these forecasts and opinions and continues to invest in the growth of its exports, especially for EU market, with the focused target of reaching 70% of its turnover by the end of 2017.
