At ETMA, we believe that solidarity is a transformative force capable of changing lives and inspiring communities. Over the past year, we proudly took on the sponsorship of Princess Lara’s cause — a little girl whose strength and smile touched everyone privileged to know her story and spend time with her.
We remind you that Lara is a young girl from Braga who faces a rare, severe, and degenerative illness known as Vanishing White Matter Leukodystrophy, currently without a cure.
Due to her condition, Lara’s needs are continuous and increasingly demanding, requiring significant expenses for treatments and medication, amounting to approximately €1,300 per month, with no financial support.
Thus, throughout 2024, we committed to making a difference in Lara’s life and her mother’s. With the voluntary collaboration of our employees, we joined forces to provide support for Lara’s essential therapies.
But that’s not all — besides the initiatives carried out until May 2024, we were also able to promote additional campaigns and initiatives that, once again, reflected ETMA’s spirit of solidarity:
- In July, we launched the “Solidarity Box” campaign to raise funds;
- We created the ETMARKET initiative, an internal online platform through which employees could sell second-hand items to one another, with proceeds directed towards Lara’s therapies;
- We conducted a Christmas Campaign among employees, to which ETMA’s management contributed to complete the amount required to purchase a special bicycle.
In total, we managed to raise funds for 11 therapy sessions (equivalent to one week of treatments) and collect 88 kg of plastic bottle caps at ETMA’s facilities.
With these results, we believe that every euro raised and every cap collected reflected our commitment to making a real impact on Lara’s quality of life.
One particularly significant action involved transporting the bottle caps collected at the Braga Voluntary Fire Brigade to Lara’s home, as well as assisting with loading and transporting the selected cap bags to the warehouse where they are placed in big bags. These are later sent, with the support of a transport company, to the recipient company.
Indeed, with everyone’s support, we made a difference! Little Lara, with her contagious joy, sent a special message of gratitude to ETMA and its employees for their efforts in collecting and transporting the bottle caps.
For her mother, this logistical support proved indispensable, easing her concerns and reinforcing the sense of community this project promoted.
Today, as we close this sponsorship chapter, we reflect with immense gratitude. Princess Lara’s cause was not just a solidarity campaign—it was a lesson in how collective effort can transform lives and create a more promising future.
ETMA thanks everyone who took part in this journey. The success of this initiative reflects a joint effort, and we close this chapter with full hearts, confident that we have left a positive mark on Lara’s life and on all those who were part of this story.
Whether as an individual or a company, if you wish to help this cause, follow Princess Lara’s Facebook page for more information and/or contact details.
May the spirit of solidarity continue to guide us towards new causes, because together, we can keep making a difference.
