Together for a Cause. When solidarity makes a difference!

14 June, 2024 No Comments

As part of its social responsibility policy – “IMPROVING LIVES – TOGETHER FOR A CAUSE” in 2024, ETMA, together with its employees, is sponsoring the cause of “Princess Lara“, having already developed various support initiatives over the last few months.

Lara is a 6-year-old girl from Braga who fights every day against a rare, serious and degenerative disease called Vanish White Matter Leukodystrophy, which currently has no cure.

It has been through actions such as collecting bottle tops, charity events, raffles, etc. that Lara’s mother has tried to meet the average monthly expense of €1,300 in therapies and medicines that are not reimbursed, among other needs.

On the part of ETMA and its employees, in addition to financial aid to cover the cost of therapies, medicines, supplements and orthopaedic equipment, the support also includes helping to collect and transport bottle tops to raise money for a new wheelchair.

Here is a brief summary of the actions already carried out and the results achieved:

PRINCESS LARA’S VISIT TO ETMA – February 2024

Officialisation of sponsorship

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS – March and May 2024

Funds raised donated to therapy sessions

ETMA has organised campaigns among its employees to raise awareness of this cause, including donating and raising funds to pay for Princess Lara’s therapies. As part of the Father’s Day and Mother’s Day campaigns, the money raised was used to pay for 6 physiotherapy sessions (out of the 11 a week that Lara needs).

BOTTLE CAPS COLLECTION AND TRANSPORTATION CAMPAIGN – February to May 2024

Support for the purchase of a new wheelchair

The bottle caps collection campaign that ETMA has been running internally for a number of years will, in 2024, be in favour of “Princess Lara”, with the aim of helping to raise money for a new wheelchair. In the first four months of this year, ETMA collected 19kg of bottle caps.

Also in this context, ETMA was willing not only to collect and transport the bottle caps collected by the Braga Volunteer Fire Brigade to Lara’s house, but also, when necessary, to transport them to other locations.

Recently, Cidália Alves, Lara’s mum, sent this message of thanks to ETMA and its employees. A testimony that touched everyone!

For the second half of this year, ETMA will continue this sponsorship, trying to help minimise Princess Lara’s journey in the fight against this rare, degenerative disease.

Let’s go TOGETHER to make a difference in the life of this little girl who is a real princess?
