ETMA improves the welding process through robotisation

As we highlighted in the previous article, and contrary to what one may think, task automation does not necessarily imply the reduction of workstations. Quite the opposite, it allows an increase in the safety conditions of the employees as well as production maximisation, which can result in an increase in the profitability of the company, since continuous production times also increase.

In fact, robots do not get tired and can perform repetitive tasks for much longer periods of time in comparison to human capacity. In this context, ETMA invested once again in robotisation, this time for its welding process. This is because, when carried out by humans, welding demands highly-developed skills and training, in addition to being very repetitive, potentially dangerous (for example, causing skin and ocular burns even when using adequate safety equipment) and physically demanding.

In this specific case (and as can be seen in the video below), after the 1st production operation of the part, using the wire forming process, the robot starts helping in the 2nd operation of the same piece.

Using robotisation to carry out tasks like the abovementioned example, in addition to protecting its employees by minimising incidents, ETMA maximised the operation times and ensured consistent quality levels.
